Ragazzino amante dei computer rischia di scatenare una guerra atomica. David (Broderick), giovanissimo appassionato di informatica, riesce a collegarsi clandestinamente con varie reti computerizzate. Ma quello che sembra solo un innocuo gioco rischia di trasformarsi in tragedia quando un giorno, del tutto casualmente, riesce a dialogare con la memoria del computer che controlla e programma la difesa nucleare degli Stati Uniti. Convinto di avere a che fare con una società produttrice di videogiochi, David si lancia in un confronto che in realtà da il via ai preparativi irreversibili per una nuova guerra mondiale. Apologo giovanil-fantascientifico con simpatico retrogusto pacifista, diretto con buona mano seguendo una notevole intuizione di fondo.
