The EGO ON THE ROCKS project was created by former members of the German prog-rock band Eloy, Jürgen Rosenthal and Detlev Schmidtchen, after their departure from the band in 1979. Feeling a lack of creative freedom in Eloy, they founded the new project in 1980, aiming to create a unique soundscape. Their music combined modern progressive rock with surreal, bizarre, and ambient sequences, which differed from Eloy's sound. In 1981, they released their only vinyl album, "Alice In Wounderland," which was originally planned as part of a trilogy. Plans for a stage production failed, and the project ended in 1982. The album ("Acid in Wounderland" remains a complex and outstanding work of art that has not lost its relevance.
